In Defense of Carousel Riders

For those unfamiliar with the manosphere, a Carousel Rider is a young woman who spends the height of her youth and attractiveness being pumped and dumped by various Alphas she meets in bars, clubs, and the like. Some of the valiant denizens of the Manosphere, having been abused and rejected by Carousel Riders at various points excoriate them and attempt to become the Alphas pumping and dumping.
Hells bells, it makes you sick sometimes. We all have failings. I really don’t want to blame Carousel Riders, and they are a real phenomenon. And I guess I really don’t.

In Defense of Carousel Riders

If nobody tells you anything, or worse you get told wrong, how responsible are you? I don’t say fully not responsible, your illative sense is still hanging out in your mind, telling you that you know what’s right and what’s wrong. You are responsible. Morally responsible.
But the flesh remains weak. If these women are raised in an environment that tells them nonsense from zero hours until the reality of fertility finally clicks in, we have a decade and a half of complete crap being fed into someone with no real basis to defend against it.

I read an interview with Katy Perry a while back (pastors’ daughter, by the way, so yes a complete Evangelist here stereotype), where she had difficulty with the commandments to chastity because guys could sometimes be really cute. My first though, “[sigh], this is not your fault.”
If your education in morality did not include anything strong enough to counter “this guy is really cute”, there were some bad frakking breakdowns in moral transmission. I mean some really heinous pastoral malpractice. One got the feeling that Madonna was knowingly rebelling against some actually extant moral order, Katy was just left unarmed in a battle of wits with a rationalization hamster.
I mean, how moral would a natural alpha male be, without any compelling moral guidance? With nubile young women presenting themselves? Well, how many natural alphas do you know who held the line on virginity? Don’t lie to

Don’t lie to me, bro…
Am I about to man up and marry these sluts, as Dalrock would say? Not likely. But the idea is only abhorrent to me as a result of some hard times and some hard thinking that went along with that. Not to mention staring down the barrel of some former carousel riders thinking that I was the nice safe guy to raise their bastard children. The fact that I was even a little bit alpha just made me candy in their eyes. I mean, some excitement, plus giving a damn? Candy.

But, hell, let’s not treat these women with contempt. Their lives are a living tragedy, reading from a script that they didn’t write. Speaking the truth in love might be a good start. Of course, the Christian section of the manosphere is right, the problem is that nobody has been speaking the truth to them this whole time. But if we speak the truth now, let’s speak it in love. Don’t tell them it’s not their fault. Just tell them that even bad things can be made right with enough courage and wisdom.
